MLK JR. Memorial Walk I Hayden Plaza

New Orleans, LA

Hayden Plaza was a plaza renovation project in the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. It occupies a neutral ground area on a street dedicated to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., where the public art of internationally recognized sculptor, Frank Hayden, serves as the central focus. This celebrated project had to appeal simultaneously to tourists from across the globe, Central City residents, the daily users of the space, as well as a very active New Orleans Civil Rights community, who consider the space sacred ground. Engagement happened on multiple levels in multiple venues and over a longer course of time. This project was completed in 2016.
