Our Story

Our Story

Our landscape architecture team at DesignJones LLC is adept at tying neighborhood empowerment, disaster recovery, innovative planning and design solutions together. We implement unique approaches to landscapes forged by intensive research in areas that include comprehensive water management, building resilient communities, preservation of the built environment, a wide range of planting strategies and effective land use and planning.

Sustainability has been at the heart of our planning and design particularly over the past eight years. Both principals of DesignJones LLC have engaged in planning and design efforts related to the rebuild and recovery of the Lower Ninth Ward; the cypress forest restoration in the Bayou Bienvenue Wetlands Triangle; the dismantling of the I-10 freeway and regeneration of Treme within the Claiborne Avenue Corridor; and the rebuilding and restoring of the Historic District in post-earthquake Jacmel, Haiti — a district that heavily influenced the architecture and urban design of the French Quarter of New Orleans.

We often conduct higher education service learning, through neighborhood oriented studios specifically designed to advocate for the impacted communities. We have used these strategies to conduct interdisciplinary studies on behalf of the Lower Ninth Ward Center for Sustainable Engagement and Development (CSED) and the Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood on the future development of a 25-acre warehouse district along the Mississippi River — The St. Maurice Wharf Warehouse District.
